We build fictitious, yet real-world datasets based off personal experience. Datasets align to a specific type of Analytics (e.g. Customer Support) and/or an industry (e.g. SaaS). Each dataset is typically comprised of 3-5 parts.
Each dataset part comes in two forms: a mini-version (up to 1,000 rows) and a full version (up to 100,000 rows). Mini-versions are useful for times when you want to see an entire dataset move at your command. Also, they're great for spreadsheets as they don't bog down the software. And full version datasets provide the feel of working with a large dataset, and are great for creating visualizations in BI Software.
Below is an overview of how we make datasets available for each data tool:
Spreadsheet
The mini-version of a dataset is available via CSV download or directly within our shared Google Sheets, and each dataset part is stored in its own spreadsheet tab. Full versions datasets are available for download in CSV format only.
Database and SQL
Both forms of a dataset are available for upload to your Local Database. Each dataset part is stored in its own database table, and can be uploaded via the :
- We provide the CREATE TABLE and INSERT VALUES query to upload each dataset part
BI Software
Both forms of a dataset are available within Looker. Each dataset part is accessible individually, as well as the connected master dataset(s).
